Support Team

INSTRUCTIONS

DAY 1

The Support Teams must arrive at Sally Bay by 5.00 am on Saturday October 18, 2006.

They must set up the competitors’ bikes for the Transition and leave Sally Bay by 5.30 am to head to Matelot.

Support CANNOT follow their competitor along the road.

At Matelot, Support Teams must consult Race Officials for them to check the Mandatory Gear for the Running Section.

After the competitors leave Matelot, Support Teams are asked to drive very carefully as other athletes may still be on the course.

DAY 2

Support Teams must arrive at the Blanchisseuse Playing Field by 4.00 am on Sunday October 19, 2006, prep their competitors for the Cycle Stage and depart the Playing Field by 4.30 am.

Support Teams will not be allowed to follow their com-petitors on the Cycling Leg.

Spectator Points are listed in the instructions. Any other areas will be off limits for following your competitors. This is critical for the overall safety of the course and any Support Team found to be in violation of this rule will have their competitor disqualified.

Support Teams are to proceed to North Post to prepare the competitors’ running packs.

They are then required to drive to Macqueripe, prep the kayaks for the Paddling Section and ensure that the competitors have PFDs. Race Bibs are to be worn on the outside of the Life Jackets. Support must also check that competitors have paddles and Mandatory Gear. Please ensure that enough food and water are available for the Paddle Leg.

Support then goes to the Finish Line at Williams Bay.

STAGE, ACTIVITY AND INSTRUCTION

DAY 1

Cycle

Observe parking instructions from the Race Marshal.

Take bikes to the designated area at Sally Bay.

At 5.30 am, all support vehicles must clear the area and proceed to Matelot. No assistance to your team is permitted along this route.

Run

Observe parking instructions from the Race Marshal.

Complete Gear Checks before the competitors arrive.

Collect bikes from participants. The supply of food and water is allowed.

This is a Relay Transition.

Proceed to Blanchisseuse. The recommended route is via the Arima/Blanchisseuse Road – a winding, scenic drive over the Northern Range. The distance/time is shorter than driving along the highway and over the Saddle Road through Santa Cruz.

Finish – End of Day 1

Check in with Race Marshal and observe parking instructions.

Prepare to collect your teammate/s.

DAY 2

Cycle

In order to avoid traffic congestion, parking is restricted to the football field in the village, 5 minutes from the start on the way to the site. Look for the signs and observe the parking instructions from Race Officials.

Prepare for mandatory Gear Checks.

At 4.30 am, all support teams must leave the area and proceed along the route to the designated spectator sites.

The Race starts at 5:00 am SHARP.

The spectator sites are as follows:
1. The Las Cuevas Beach Facility
2. Maracas Bay
3. The Maracas Lookout

Please avoid blocking the road and obstructing normal traffic. Obey all traffic laws. Proceed to Patna Village in Diego Martin.

Run

Collect bikes from participants and proceed to Macqueripe Bay.

This is also a Relay Transition.

Spectator sites are located in Chaguaramas at:
1. The Seed Centre and
2. The Samaan Park

Paddle

Ensure that your racers’ kayaks, paddles and Personal Flotation Devices (Life Jackets) are ready at the beach. Proceed to the Finish Line at Williams Bay.

Finish – End of Race
